Abstract

Qur’ān and Sunnah encourage Muslims to treat non-Muslims in the best
possible manner and has protected their political, judicial, social and
religious rights. Islām emphasizes on the fair treatment towards nonMuslims; it also ordains giving respect to their funerals, visiting their sick and providing them security and social justice in order to soften their
hearts for Islām. It is also legislated by the Sharī‘ah that if they deal fairly
with the Muslims, Muslims in return are also bound to deal with them in
the same manner. They are even permitted to secure governmental and
official positions while living peacefully in the Muslim lands . Muslims are
specifically instructed to ensure their security and provide social justice to
the extent that there are numerous warnings given by the Prophet SAW to
those who among Muslims, who fail to do so or devise ways to treat nonMuslims unjustly and unfairly. There are numerous parables found in
Islāmic history of such treatment; therefore, it wouldn’t be wrong to
conclude that the number of rights that Islām has given to the nonMuslims, no other religion has been able to do that. This paper covers all such comprehensive details and parables.
