Abstract

Fayḍ al-Ḥasan Sahāranpuri (1816-1887 AD) was one of those great personalities who 
had devoted their lives for the promotion of Arabic language in the Indo-Pak subcontinent. He was a renowned scholar and great writer of Arabic language and literature. 
He authored a number of books in Arabic, the most prominent of which are: "Riyāḍ alFāyḍi " (a commentary on the famous seven suspended poems of the pre-Islamic period) 
and “al-Fāyḍī” (a commentary on “Dīwān āl-Ḥamāsah”). He was a well-known poet of 
Arabic and Persian. He left behind a collection of his Arabic poetry titled: “Dīwān alFāyḍ”. He was also founder head of the department of Arabic, University of the Punjab, 
Lahore. This article - as appears from the title – deals with his own Arabic poetry and 
manifestations of Qur’ānic Intertextuality in it. It has been divided into three parts. The 
first part discusses the lingual and literary meaning of "التناص) "Intertextuality) and its 
manifestations in the works of the Arab poets in different periods. The second part 
highlights the life of Shaykh Fayḍ al-Ḥasan Sahāranpuri and his poetic collection 
briefly. The third part pertains to the manifestations of Qur’ānic intertextuality in his 
poetry.
