It is a well-known fact that Islām forbids Muslims to resemble non-Muslims but quite a few are aware that Islām also forbids non-Muslims to resemble Muslims in their social and religious construct. In this regard, the most important legal and historical document scribed during the time of the rightly guided caliphate (al-Khilāfah al-Rāshidah) was “al-Shurūṭ al-‘Umarīyah” which also happened to acquire the consensus of the Companions of the Prophet. This document was scribed based upon numerous Prophetic traditions and legal rulings implemented by the Prophet SAW in his time. Conditions scribed in the aforementioned document regulates both; Muslims and non-Muslims alike to avoid resembling each other. The treatise in view details the textual evidences, interpretations and the application of these regulations in the Islamic World.
