Imām Abu Hanīfah, Companionship of the Companions, Four Leaders of Islamic LawAbstract
Among the different qualities of the imam one significant one is his stature as a “Tāb’i” (Companion of the companion). He is the only Jurist among the four Sunni Jurists who had the said privilege. This article investigates into the Imam’s stature as a “Tāb’i” with special reference to opinions of specialists of Hadīth about his stature and position. Some of the narrators differ about Abu Hanīfah, but in this article it has been clarified that their differences are just about whether Abu Hanīfah narrated the hadīth from the Companions. As mentioned in this article, they have been convinced that Abu Hanīfah has seen companions of Holy Prophet (SAW).
