IMPACT OF JOB STRESS ON TEACHER'S PERFORMANCE: A CASE STUDY OF GOVT. PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN LODHRAN DISTRICT

Abstract

The study investigates the impact of job stress on teachers' performance. It involved 100 primary school teachers chosen indiscriminately. Two research questions and four hypotheses were framed to explore the issues. A corroborated instrument was used for data collection, and the survey method was employed. Data was analyzed using the chi-square test.

The findings highlight that job stress negatively affects teachers' performance. Major stressors include:

  • Deficiency of job contentment
  • Hindrances in salary payment
  • Insufficient facilities

The study noted that a democratic headship style was more satisfying for teachers compared to an autocratic style. A significant difference was observed as female teachers appeared more gratified with their work than males. Variables like age, class level, marital status, and qualifications had no significant impact on job performance.

Recommendation:
The study suggests increasing teachers' salaries and improving facilities to enhance their performance.
