الشعر في ظل الرسول صلی الله علیه وسلم
Keywords:
Poetry, Prophetic Age, Arabic LiteratureAbstract
During the Pre-Islamic period, Arab poets enjoyed a considerable importance for it was the poetry that was their only literary asset. The polytheists of Makkah accused Prophet Muhammad (SAW), after his prophethood that he was a poet, but we observe that the Holy Quran negates this very notion of polytheists. Though he was not a poet, but this does not mean that he had not the taste and interest in poetry. About this, he used to listen poetry. He, even, encouraged some remarkable poets to condemn infidel poets as well as to defend Islam and prophet hood nobility. Therefore, under his kind guidance several poets developed their poetical ability and consequently a significant change occurred in the objectives and ambiance of poetry and that became one of the major sources of preaching and dissemination of Islamic Dawah.
