The state of Madinah established by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in 622 A. D, after his
migration from Makkah to Yathrib is an archetypal Islamic State. It is unique example in human
history that a state was developed by a prophet, from ground-breaking stage to its strong and
stable conditions, with in just a period of ten years. This state was an extra-ordinary achievement
in the tribal society of the Bedouin Arabs. With reference to the political maturity of middle
Ages, the establishment of this state in the Arab peninsula is a hallmark of the Muslim history
and in the whole human history in general. A research oriented analytical study of the state of
Madinah provides not only an insight to the political developments of the Muslims under the
guidance of Qur'an and the Prophet (PBUH) but also it provides modern political thinkers and
leaders, with an apt guidance for the establishment of a welfare state in the light of religious
teachings. The prophet after completing the spade work planned a long-term strategy for
constitutional package, socio-economic structure, education policy, judicial reformation, and
defense mechanism. With the help of revealed guidance and enlightened wisdom, prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) devised his statecraft, turning to be a milestone and a turning point in
human history of civilization. The state of Madinah, even after one and a half millennium of
history, stands as a touch stone for an Islamic State, always aspired by the Muslim community of
the world.
