Arabic poetry falls in the vast ambit of diverse Islamic topics. Descriptive style is one of
the important genres of Arabic poetry. Great Arabic author Ibne Rashiq al-Qirwani is
reported to have said that Description has been a major part of Arabic poetry. This
article presents the study of Descriptive poetry especially on Manasik-e-Hajj and
Islamic Emblems rendered by Pakistani poets. Among them are: Asghar Ali Rohi, Zail
al Haq Sufi, Muhammad Nazim Nadvi, Muhammad Yousuf Binnauri, Mufti Muhammad
Shafi, Muhammad Husain Qadri, Muhammad Jamil Qalander, Muhammad Afzal Faqir,
Pir Muhammad Hasan, Latafat al Rehman Sawati, Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Azhar, Mufti
Jamil Ahmad Thanvi, Maulana Idrees Kandhalvi, Ghulam Naseer Challasi, Abdul Aziz
Memon and Abdussalam. Besides Islamic months, Manasik and Mashair of Hajj and
life after death, descriptive poetry deals with the topics like book and pen cities and
countries, incidents, educational institutions and natural phenomena.
